I have lost you haven't I

The nights fall pale without a crown,
No silver keeps the dark from me—
No full moons drift above the town,
No quiet light on memory.

The ocean, once a breathing hymn,
Lies wordless now against the shore;
Its tides are hushed, its edges dim,
It does not call me anymore.

The hedges stand in careful lines,
Too clean for any secret place—
No wildness in their clipped designs,
No hidden path, no soft embrace.

The trees I knew are gone or tamed,
No limbs to lift me from the ground;
The wind no longer speaks your name,
Nor circles back with that old sound.

I wander where your laughter lay,
A ghost of what the hours had been—
And ask the quiet of the day,
“Have I not lost you… haven’t I?”
