I Have Emerged

I have emerged
From the pitch dark pit
That used to be my life and tale
Cold freezing mud and slime
Thorn-scarred , bruised and broken
With nothing but the flame of hope
Burning bright in my heart
Fed by a faith that refused to die
The chains that once held me
Lie shattered somewhere in memory
Of a cocoon that birthed my beauty
