I Hate

I hate the fact I feel fatigue For no apparent reason. I hate the fact I can’t get cherries Since they’re out of season. I hate when someone shares my bench Though six feet can be measured. I hate to lose or misplace something That I’ve always treasured. I hate when out-of-staters Park their cars right on my street. I hate when I can’t order foods I’ve always loved to eat. I hate when aching joints prevent Me skipping up the stairs. I hate when someone blesses me Or puts me in their prayers. I hate not seeing friends and also That I cannot travel. I hate the way that Covid made So many lives unravel. I hate the fact my age keeps finding Different ways of showing, But most of all, I hate the fact My list of hates keeps growing.

Why do you hate when someone blesses you? Or puts you in their prayers?

It is difficult to hate, it takes a toll on us which is why I relate to this one well.

I like that you focused on hate Ilene. If God can hate the Devil then I imagine hatered is worth exploring. Perhaps to alert us to what we can change. Trevor P.S.-I liked the last line.

"Even this shall pass away", but I love that you put it so eloquently in words! Aloha! Rico

I love your "I hates", ilene. I feel your angst. I will add one stanza to hopefully bring a smile. "I hate the nonstop clock of old age / that won't stop tick-tocking / I hate debaters who won't let opponents finish talking". ~ John

i try not to use hate word but I can appreciate your dislike at these things I;ve misplaced items but have also lost some jewellery in the last 3 months its very distressing. keep on penning your wonderful words. Your poem makes me appreciate how much of a 'bubble' we live in here where we are deemed covid free, 3 new cases recently but all contained as the people are in isolation. Life is pretty much back to normal for us apart from travel which we have no intention of doing:-) hugs Jan xx

Youre not alone Ilene, things that never used to bother me before do so now. I think as you get older your patience is affected and things get you riled. Tom

- Hating is a strong word, Ilene ... I try to avoid this word ... "I do not like" ... sounds better :) - But what is the difference? :))) - A lot of emotions in your poem :) - Have a lovely weekend :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)
