I Had Become One of Them
They whispered all about her up and down the workplace.
Crucifying her, even though none of them had one drop of evidence.
I am a rescuer, a defender of underdogs, a devil’s advocate of devil’s advocates
So I refused to get involved.
Worse, I said some powerfully mean things to them.
Becoming a bit of an instigator myself.
We had a shout out.
The judgers and I.
And I realized….
I had just become one of them.
Another judger
So I shut up and I backed away
But I became her friend, and we got to know each other better.
We became best friends.
So I guess I can thank them for that.
