I Guess It's Been Four Years

I guess it’s been four years.

And now the aftermath is no longer a fear.

I remember the danger in ignoring a crisis.

At the time, it felt as if the people I held dear were senseless.

I was scared my family would intervene.

Against my secret plans to let my passion be seen.

Soon enough, I strayed from my own wishes.

I didn’t even notice that every step I took was into a busy street of near misses.

As well as feeling troubled and stricken.

I was afraid my passion was so strong it could sicken.

I guess it’s been four years…

And now estranged from the past, I am finally aware!
