i gave you my heart which was all that i had

i gave you my heart and all that i have—
not as a gift (for gifts may fade)
but as the sun gives light to the grass,

my mind, respect, loyalty, support—
these are not ribbons, not fragile paper,
they are the marrow of the day itself.

and then you gave me your heart
so quietly the world almost missed it,
yet i heard the thunder of roses opening.

two hands, trembling, became a single branch,
two mouths found the silence between stars,
two souls fell upward into the sky.

there is no arithmetic for this—
love does not add, it multiplies,
till every breath is an orchard.

i have you(therefore i am endless
you have me(therefore you are free

we
(together)
are the hush of all prayers
& the green beginning of time

i have you (and having you, i am vast)
you have me (and having me, you are free)
