I Fix My Eyes On Eternity
I Fix My Eyes On Eternity
“17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Cor 4:17-18 NIV
I Fix My Eyes On Eternity,
And deny my flesh worldly lusts.
The will of the flesh reaps corruption;
The will of the Spirit’s a must.
I will live soberly and righteously
By the power of God from on high.
I depend entirely on my Father—
His promises, He’ll not deny.
My sinful nature has been put to death;
My life’s now hidden with my Lord.
I Fix My Eyes On Eternity,
Enabling me to stay in heaven’s accord.
My Lord will purify me
And redeem me from every lawless deed.
In my heart, He’s fixed eternity
To grow and bloom like a farmer’s seed.
I look for the blessed hope
And the glorious second coming of my Lord.
To focus on this world and its cares,
I simply cannot afford.
Christ is the author and finisher
Of my faith that does reside.
In His grace and loving mercy,
My life I presently hide.
I Fix My Eyes On Eternity—
Life in heaven and the earth made new.
My heart yearns for the permanent;
Not like earth’s temporary venue.
I imagine my body made immortal—
No more pain or sickness within.
A life that’s filled with joy, peace and love—
A kingdom that’s free from sin!
