I Failed To See
Looking back, there was always light
Enough to balance my time in the dark
A relentless, steady, undying spark
Revealed, in time, at close of night
I never thought to question, just why
I didn’t stop to ponder specifics
It took the dark and quickly fixed it
Blissfully ignorant, my heart, obliged
From the very start, I heard music play
Humming the tune, while tapping my feet
I always adored the aesthetic beat
Leavening spirits and leaving me gay
At no time, did I dissect the lyrics
Not once, did I consider, contemplation
A meaning behind the pleasant vibration
Reciting a song, but I never did hear it
I was there all along, but failed to see
The force that drove my everyday life
Yet, moving to the beat and warmed by light
