I Dream Poetry

I DREAM POETRY When slumber overtakes my waking mind There are words I hear that seem to flow But with no poetic reference that I can find Keep bubbling up from somewhere below I am asleep, so consciousness has resigned The lines arriving from where I don’t know With images of all kinds coming into view I see beauty and sadness, struggle and joy All the emotions I’ve experienced, it’s true But it takes just one wrong word to destroy And one good metaphor to change the hue Maybe it always was the dream’s clever ploy

Dear Howard, your poem is wonderfully expressed. It's so true that "it takes just one wrong word to destroy / And one good metaphor to change the hue" -just lovely! Your last line is a grand finale to a fine piece. Congratulations for your excellent win in Ink's contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

I really love the flow of this and how you’ve written so effortlessly. Brilliant rhymes and my favorite part of the poem is the ending “ it takes one word to destroy” “ one metaphor to change the hue” how deep is that! Love that. Thank you for writing. CONGRATULATIONS
