Notes About The Poem

I Don't Need Your Help

"I don't need your help", he said, falling to his death below.
His last phrase was a melancholy refrain, a sad echo
of the reality which always seemed to be his plight.
Since he was born one frosty night, his fate, he couldn't rewrite.
He therefore refused salvation's rope and plunged to his death,
but was it marked in the cards that's how he'd breath his last breath? -
a reverberation of a theme, from each childhood fall
to the echo that sounded off that lonely canyon wall.

Lol. It is a sad poem but written in a cheerful style. Living in a land of canyons, I know this is not a rare occurrence.

I know. A lot of times, I write about serious themes, and the rhymes create a goofy tone. I'm so used to writing silly poems.

Dear David, Wow, your poem really hit me! The way you capture that moment of despair and the theme of fate is so powerful. I love the imagery of echoes and how it ties back to his life. It’s deep and thought-provoking, yet so relatable. Keep writing—your voice has such a strong impact! Autumn Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Hi Daniel. Thanks! Yes, I was trying to show how the same destructive patterns can echo through one's life, and can be hard, but not impossible, to break, being rooted in early experience.
