I Don't Believe in Love Anymore

I don't believe in love anymore,
I don't believe in romance and staying
I believe in eyes that hold deceit
and fingertips that trace my skin like tongues full of critique.
I believe in the fire of lust and coveting a trusting heart to conquer
I believe in shifting loyalties and fading desires but more so,
I don't believe in love any longer.

Well Bella, it depends what you mean by Love. Love has different degrees & different depths ~ it develops as one grows in understanding until we reach agape Love also known as compassion. When Love is totally free from attachment, expectations & judgement, it moves into purity. Blessings wherever in South Africa you are, from a windy Cape Town. X.

Thank you for this thoughtful perspective Ghairo. I agree that love has many depths, and that understanding shapes how we experience it. This poem came from a place where trust had been shaken, so love felt distant and complicated rather than pure, but perhaps that, too, is part of the journey toward deeper compassion. Blessings to you in windy Cape Town, all the way from Centurion :)

Sad one! My daughter has felt that way or close to it.

Thank you for sharing that, Kim. It’s heartbreaking to watch someone we love lose faith like that. If you’re comfortable sharing, what helped your daughter most during that season?

This poem was written from a place of disillusionment. It reflects what love can look like after trust has been damaged and belief no longer comes easily. Have you ever felt this way about love?
