I Did My Very Best

I choose the path where my ancestors trod With firm integrity and a strong belief in God, Leaving behind the qualms and hurtful doubts The twisting paths of many often-taken routes, Having developed a “full steam ahead” attitude Embracing their faith with plenty of gratitude, Steering a straight course through my life’s woe And when I am gone I think the record will show I did my very best to live this life to the fullest, So, my final words could be, “I have been blest!”

You have been blest. "I choose the path "- it is important that we teach children that they CHOOSE their path. Some do not understand that, and choose their parents paths no matter how much that path does not suit, please, or fulfill them.

So true, Caren. When I look back over my life, I can see the numerous times I chose my own "better" way and avoided some of the pitfalls my parents experienced. I learned from them good lessons.
