I Dare You

You took me by the heart
When you pressed against my lips.
You said let's take it slow,
But now you've only quit.

I don't fall for just anyone,
Barely anyone at all.
Something about you though,
Something made me fall hard.

I can't pinpoint it,
Or describe what it is.
I'm trying to figure you out,
But I just can't find it.

You had me ball and chain,
Wrapped around your finger
With freedom to be who I please,
But I want to be your girl.

The girl you kiss hello,
The girl you don't say goodbye to first,
The girl you intertwine fingers with,
The girl you tell everyone "I'm hers."

Why won't you give me the chance
To prove I'm not a heartbreaker,
To prove I won't leave you,
To show you what I'm worth.

I thought we had something.
I could've sworn you felt it too.
But now I'm left here alone
With a broken heart for you.

One single chance.
One strike and I'm out.
Just let me prove to you
I'm not another doubt.
