I Count the Days

I COUNT THE DAYS,
THE DAYS YOU’VE BEEN GONE THAT IS,
DAY ONE I WANTED TO BE ALONE AND I CRIED,
DAY TWO THOUGH WITHOUT SUCCEEDING TRIED LOSING YOUR MEMORIES,
DAY THREE I TALKED TO FRIENDS I TRIED TO GET A LITTLE BETTER,
DAY FOUR I WROTE YOU A LETTER,
DAY FIVE I ADMITTED TO YOU MAKING MY HEART SHATTER,
DAY SIX I KEPT UP WITH MY FRIENDS ENDLESS CHATTER,
DAY SEVEN I KNEW YOU WERE LONG GONE…
NOW YOU SEE THE WEEK,
THERE’S YOUR CHANCE TO TAKE A PEEK,
WOULD YOU BELIEVE SHE’S BEEN GONE FOR A YEAR?
EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS HERE ONLY A MONTH,
OUR LOVE NEVER HAD ITS GROWTH SPURT,
SO NOW I JUST DO AS I HAVE BEEN…
I COUNT THE DAYS…
