I Can'T Love Two Sweethearts

I can't love two sweethearts and pretend 
that they are both the center of my attention
one has to go before evening or nightfall;
no, I can't share the same love with Sue and
and still give everything to beautiful Sheryl.
Holding on two would be unfair and cruel...
before a conflict begins, I must choose again;
sweet eyes will lay on me and begin their spell.


If I said no to one and let go of the other,
there would be so much hurt and tears on her pretty face
and she'll think that I am that heartless liar,
who promised her love, but didn't keep his promise.


I can't love two sweethearts and pretend any longer
that they both can share the same love with one man, 
not seeing trouble ahead when jealousy steps in:
blind, blind heart come into the light and see what's fair!


My intention is not to leave Sherryl and keep Sue,
it would have really been nice to have kept two;
let me explain to them my dilemma and be truly honest...
losing them both is heartbreaking, and so ends my quest.

Cupids Arrow January 5, 2015 at 2:49 PM This poem reminds me of a a song called 'Torn between two lovers'.Yes sometimes We fall out od love with someone yet wont be able to say goodbye,even when we meet somebody new.There are many reasons to that,but in the end. decisions need to betaken.Its better to ! be sinciere even if it hurts.I loved your poem Andrew
