I Call It Free Verse

I call it Free Verse

I call it free verse,
because I don’t know what else to say.

It comes from me, and it’s mine,
and it doesn’t follow a form I see.

Keep your English teacher away from me.
With all the good poets, she has killed.

Rhyme is cliché, they say;
 you better follow our rules.

I just wanna be free, and flow,
and kill it and glow. That’s it..

It’s taken me a lifetime, to break this cage.
I’m not going back, and your opinions can die.

I’m not British. This isn’t Shakespeare’s poem,
It’s mine. It’s my freedom to fail. Mine alone.
