I Built a Wall

I built a wall for death, you see- So that no one would come and bother me. I stepped onto the pebbled ground- So that no one would come around. I built a wall for sympathy- So that no one would feel bad for me. I stepped onto the brick of loss- So that no one would pay my cost. I built a wall for my enemy- So that no one would allow victory. I stepped onto the wooden barricade- So that no one would lose the game I played. I built a wall for tragedy- So that no one could find my key. I stepped onto the impediment- So that no one would hide in my cement. I build these walls for my comfortable safety- So that no one can feel the pain I feel lately. October 25, 2016

Laura, I feel your pain every time you write a sad poem. No wall can stop that. A very thought provoking write. Just be careful. Isolation is deadly! I can definitely feel the sadness in this poem.
