I Bring the Lightning a Song

[pre-chorus]
That flash that stuns your eyes
makes you hold your breath
shiver to your toes
ruins your rest

[chorus]
Thats me, I bring the lightning,
I can start the fire
burning brightly

things can go on for hours

[verse 1]

I learned a long time ago
how to set match 
to the tinder
and make things all aglow
dancing crackling cinder

It takes intention and focus
and knowing where to touch
and breathing on the embers' glow
to bring it all alive

[instrumental interlude]

[verse 2]
Flame bursts out
it jumps so high
crackling popping with the sap
once it starts to really burn
there is no going back

So don't play with this match
I am not to be trifled with 
I can bring the lightning 
the flame

and then your life will never again
be the same

That flame leaves nothing untouched
the ground, the structures, the plants
its all gone up in smoke
if you give it half a chance

so don't play with fire
don't call in the lightning
the snap and bright will bring a fright
and the burn be quite enlightening

Those that have seen the flame
are never the same again

and I seldom strike twice for anyone

'I bring the lightning' gave me chills. You’ve captured the beauty and danger of passion perfectly. Absolutely stunning work! Thats easy, since I have said in several songs I bring the lightning and set things on fire. I frequently have an insight about how something should come together or how it is falling apart and its very direct. Pivotal moments come from that. Now I have to go check out your poems :D - Susan
