I Breathe

I breathe in hope as I step into the day,  
This helps me dispel every gloomy ray,
Though I wake up with the weight of the unfamiliar clouding my light,  
Hope strengthens me to rise and fight.  

I breathe in hope as the sun brightens the sky,  
And the birds take to the air and fly,
A new day encourages me to believe in myself,  
Even as I journey across its vast sea.  

I breathe in hope as I walk every mile,  
As I seek to know what lies behind the veil.  
I come to understand some truths about life, 
Ease often comes after strife.  

I breathe in hope through every season,  
Even in the times that offer no reason, 
It gives me a reason to believe in the best,  
As I find a way out of the night’s nest.
