I Blame the Rock and Roll

I blame the rock and roll The moon rests on the rooftops I'm watching all alone The dark surround the sadness from bad news thru telephone All flowers rise their head to the man who gave them light And a holy tree is lit but not too bright to night A wall of stone is cold it runs all along the park People passing by no one sees it in the dark REF I blame fate and I blame god I blame every living soul on every path we trod - and I blame the rock and roll Music gave us freedom with drinks, pills and smoke Little did we know it was all a painful joke And the joke was on us the beginning of the end And no hippiegods or healers can make us well again Now some of us are dying and some of us are dead The rest just sing and dance around our dying bed
