I Believed You Would Come Today

I believed you would come today
I filled the pen full with blue ink
gold was coming into the grey
preparing the ground for the pink

you love, I knew, the iambic
with the rhythmic sounds of tabla
in the green field two spotted chicks
In the blue lake, a gondola

somehow the clouds wished otherwise
shortly it filled the blue again
saddening was collapsing highs
the pen sick in a severe pain

hopes often must sit on a dew
unaware of the red hot hues
