I Ask You This

Could you bask in the sunlight without feeling it's heat
Or enjoy the storm without a lightening streak
For as surly as clouds need to clear for the light
The embrace of a lover is missed mostly at night
Could a child be born without making a cry
Could a gift be offered and yet no one ask why
Encountering that lost one, alas first you must die
To overcome adversity, one first has to try
Never to discover the secret would never to have guessed
For never to suffer would never to have been blessed
