I Am Whatever I Say I Am

Do I like good people,
of course I do
Do I like bad people,
yeah, quite a few
Somehow prefer antiheroes,
over the squeaky clean type
Somehow prefer the expedient,
for I dislike hype
Am I evil, I’ve got a wicked mind
Am I evil, take a look at mankind
Have I killed remorselessly,
I’ve butchered for food
Have I killed remorselessly,
my license was approved
Do the commandments mean much,
I’ll pay my dues
Do the commandments mean much,
walk in my shoes
What happens when I die,
the world will disappear
What happens when I die,
simultaneously I’ll reappear
But what about my soul,
is it lost and cold
But what about my soul,
could be fools gold
I’m a nice person,
but I could be a sham
I’m a nice person,
yet I don’t give a damn
Can I look in the mirror,
without filling with dread
Can I look in the mirror,
only with a gun at my head
I could make myself,
sound like a saint
I could make myself,
something that I ain’t
So now you all know me,
have I gained your trust
So now you all know me,
does it fill you with disgust
I smell the roses each morning,
life is beautiful
I smell the roses each evening,
life’s full of bull
This is my Bio,
I influence what you read
This is my Bio,
the whole truth? not guaranteed

David Kavanagh...a man of mystery? Perhaps, or perhaps not to me. I think I know enough about you to call you a good guy, despite the darkness of some of your poetry. We're all a little tarnished somewhere inside our minds, although some would never admit it. Your poetry gives cause to contemplate many things, David.

Thank you Jenna, your too kind, I do hope I’m not beyond salvation lol, but I do feel it’s important to put my thoughts into the soup, this one is about my reservations of what some people here claim to be, Your so right we are all tarnished, A man of mystery I like that, but I’m more a man trying to solve life’s mystery, and poetry is indeed my outlet, cheers David

Many self-questions are mirrored in your biography. David, you may seem hazy at times, but most of the time, you are confident that you have a wonderful soul and that whatever may happen in the future is well acknowledged. You are a fantastic guy, open-minded and down-to-earth, easy-going, and pleasant. That is how I view David, my buddy. Hello Lasaad I thank you for seeing past, the duplicitous nature of my poem, its not for the contest, it’s a reflection about deception, people can write and say anything about themselves, but we cannot see or be sure or know their true nature, I am genuinely humbled but undeserving of your kind words, I have many faults, but try to be honest and open minded in my poems like yourself, cheers David
