I Am Striving To Change

Humanity is sometimes lost Amongst the daily grind I am just one who feels the cost Of cradling a closed mind The poor and huddled pave their way Toward living in the light Like others I've alot to say That doesn't make it right Yes,we look down the sidewalk Cross to the other side I feel ashamed,a few will talk And this I can't abide I'm one of many given to fear Of things not understood The price to pay is far too dear For not doing what we could I am all done with trepidation Steps need to be taken We need to be a kinder nation Hearts and souls awaken **for "I Am" contest sponsored by Paula Swanson
