I Am Still Here
Why did I become this way?
This is not how it’s supposed to be
What made me want to stay
Why can’t I seem to leave?
I know I could find someone who treats me right
Sometimes I feel like I’m a step away from shutting the door and running
Far far out of sight
But the door doesn’t shut all the way
And running will only get me so far
I’ll tell myself it’ll be okay
That he will cause me no more harm
But I feel his fists again
The blows
What did I do this time?
Only God knows.
The words echo in my ear
You can’t run from me
“I’m always here.”
So if you ask me why
I never seem to leave
I want you to know that I did
but he found me.
