I Am Sorry

I expected you to walk away, You walked towards The forgiveness visible in your eyes Not knowing the extent of my error I fell apart; you held me. We departed, silence never ensuing Hope was flickering, its sparks ablaze Our futures were in the distance Your life and mine, would not part I saw a chance; you saw it too. Old memories, spurred on by a last Words forgotten, restored again Acceptance was present, known by both My hand held a spoon, you allowed the familiarity I loved you still; you knew its truth. Fireworks burst bright before us A new beginning for young souls, made old We saw it as a sign, and believed its divinity Your lips pecked mine, reciprocation was pure I lived our idealised end; you felt the promise. A moment later, the air gained mass Your expression changed, I knew the conclusion The truth was disguised, its effects apparent I reached to console you, your hand reached for the handle I fell apart; you left me.
