I Am Poetry

I Am Poetry

My pen brings light to a dark and lonely world.
It can also cause tears for all the boys and girls.
My words make people laugh and reach for the stars.
They can also describe a flower or your very first car.

I was there in your pocket, on the way home from school.
I was scribbled on a note, a very powerful tool.
I put a smile on your face, when I talked about old times.
My words told every story, with precision and rhyme.

I can lift you up and make you feel strong.
I can also cut you down and say you don’t belong.
I can make your Father happy and make your Mother cry.
I can find your darkest place, without having to try.

I was there in your hand when your feelings were told.
I can make you feel young or I can make you feel old.
I can be shared with the world through a computer modem.
I am Poetry, I’m in the soul of every poem.

Hello Mark … poetry has defined so much throughout history, and it is such a pleasure to read your poem which classes them together no matter what the topic - poetry can be anything - thanks Mark - Lindsay
