I Am No Ghost
I listened to a ghost
That spoke solemnity
And suffering
It spoke of time and place
Energy and matter
Fascinating
Drew lines and boundaries
Confined personal space
This buffering
Invented sacrifice
Symbols of penitence
Humanity
(It said something else
But it was only a whisper
Something about terror
Something about guilt
Something about punishment
Something about panic
I kept listening
As it finished speaking
I noticed it failed to mention
That there's a light that shines behind it
I dared to ask it why
It was most unhappy with my question
Tried to obscure the light
Became more opaque
And dense)
Between the ghost and me
It's frightened I may see
This light that shines
May well define
My true reality
Because I value most
That I can finally boast
That true to Word
This light observed
That I am not a ghost
I just am
