I Am Me

I’VE SPENT MOST OF MY LIFE AS SOMEBODY’S WIFE.
SOMEBODY’S FRIEND, SOMEBODY’S MOTHER
SOMEBODY’S DAUGHTER, SOMEBODY’S COUSIN,
SOMEBODY’S SOMETHING OR OTHER.

AS FOR ME…WHAT DO I WANT TO BE?
WHAT PART SHOULD I PLAY IN THIS RACE.
UNTIL I DECIDE, I’LL JUST GO FOR THE RIDE
AND TRY TO KEEP A SMILE ON MY FACE.

SOME PEOPLE SAY I’M TOO EASY GOING,
I NEVER GET ANYWHERE ON TIME.
BUT I’VE BECOME SELFISH AND VERY POSSESSIVE
OF THE LIFE I KNOW IS ALL MINE.

I DON’T EXPECT WOODEN NICKELS
I GAVE THE VERY BEST OF ME,
BECAUSE IF I CAN SMILE ONCE IN A WHILE
I’M BEING WHO I WANT TO BE.

Hello Joyce, Yes, you are indeed you. In fact I'm very glad to meet this version of you. Just in the nick of time too. Happy holiday wishes to the best you, you can be. -Richard
