I Am Lifeless

I am lifeless
But my heart refuses
To stop beating
The presence of the pulse
Simply persists only to torture me
And my blood continues to
Reach out to every corner of my corpse
Ensuring that I soldier on
When I’d rather not
You’re so cruel to me
I’m barely hanging on
Why is the heart so heartless?
