I Am Her

By LoLa

The things they never shared
They loved like no one cared
The smile lines were growing thin
As drifting eyes began to win

“We’re growing old” they used to say
The twilight years where skin decays
She wanted to feel a hand in hers
I wanted to see where stars emerge

She sees no stars in the sky at night
A girl and a girl, with love they fight
She finds herself alone, adrift and cold
Lonely as She is, She takes herself to hold

A little bolder; She gladly holds the weight
Standing on my her own to face the coming fate
Hand in hand, She holds the dream of a girl
Like they are the only two souls in the world

She holds her close
a love unseen
Another night
another dream

Hi Laura.. Back from a party and wide awake. Need me a few funny, mysterious, interesting, or mellow writes to settle me into a restful state. So glad I came across your poem tonight.. just what I needed!
