I Am Free

I am FREE, not a prisoner inside judgemental eyes, staring at me. This cloth I wear, protects my modesty. Let me be, do not swear. My faith is my power. I am God's diamond. I embrace his love, in his blessings I will shower. We are all FREE, to be what we want. Breathe love, live and let live.
We all should be free to wear and do as we please. I receive a lot of abuse when I wear the hijab, but I also used to receive abuse when I did not. Women are still subjected to judgement, regardless of their dress. You live your life and I will live mine. Respect is important if we are to live in harmony.

Indeed, having freedom threatened can provoke an emotional response. Each of us deserves respect to live our lives fully and in any manner that does not harm another. Powerful words! Carolyn

Congratulations on your POTD! If everyone was expected to change everytime I thought I was being offended, there would be pure chaos... oh wait, there is! Whatever happened to live and let live. Too many think everything revolves around them when little is about them. Your poem is powerful in its simplicity. :)

Many congratulations on your poem being chosen as POTD, well if you are a muslim, the Quran tells you to cover your head, that are hairs, so a Muslim girl must wear a scarf, to cover her head, the forehead and face can be bare, as for clothes, I am interested in psychology, so it is a fact that if you two girls are walking, one is wearing nice clothes, the other is wearing revealing one, so the every eye shall be on second girl, that a human nature, by doing this you protect no one but yourself

WoW! Yazmin, What a powerful piece on standing in your freedom and truth. As woman we are judged for many reasons and that crosses religion and culture. So I stand with you and I salute you for taking a stand against judgemental folk. You are not harming anyone for wearing a hijab. So wear it proud. Congratulations on getting the poem of day. It was well deserved:-) Alexis
