I Am Different Than You

I'M DIFFERENT FROM YOU

I'm different from you
you won't understand why
you dont even see it
but knowing it makes me cry

I'm different from you
you ask what i mean
I tell you you're normal
a statement to you, obscene

I'm different from you
i feel lowly and ashamed
you ask how can that be
it's the result when you hold the blame

I'm different from you
hurt, alone and feel guilt
over nothing i've done
but a tower around me it's built

I'm different from you
how lucky for you i see
if you stood where i came from
you'd think different of me

I'm different from you
so the real me hides
i must guess at what's normal
and act so the fear in me subsides

I'm different from you
my story would make you doubt
simple humanity for one thing
and why this you never knew about

I'm different from you
right from the gate
my life was changed
it was already too late.

I'm different from you
I want to run and hide
So people don't see me
I do not like this ride

This poem is not about race or religion. It's about abuse. Those who are familiar will see that, but to others it may seem like something else and my apologies for that. I'm only expressing my views/thoughts/feelings. I am not trying in any way to offend anyone.

The "Us against Them" god of the Middle East has won another round. Please focus on what you share in common with others! Aloha! Rico

We're all different really, some have more pain and sorrow than others, - God heals and comforts with a gentle whisper. Just have faith. Your poem is beautiful, though sad... God bless you always. Love, Gina
