I Am

I am trying to stay alive
I wonder if I can escape from it
I hear bells ringing and tingling
I see bars and chains around my hands
I want to free myself from my mistakes
I am trying to stay alive

I pretend to accept my fate
I feel cold and empty
I touch the cold metal bars in between my fingers
I worry that my escape won't be sudden
I cry until my mistakes wash my tears away
I am trying to stay alive

I understand that I might perish
I say everyday I am going to make it through
I dream my mistakes will go away
I try to forget the bars and chains that make me suffer
I hope my mistakes don't resemble misery and pain
I am trying to stay alive

This is a very good poem Adrienne. You did not follow the title rule. However, I enjoyed the poem.... And placed it with honors... CONGRATULATIONS!! Sending you a big hug, I had so much fun reading every entry. I have a blog "What did you say about me???" Hopefully, you stop by when you have time, and reveal the answer. if it has one :) Always and Forever ~LINDA

Thank you for sharing this. I think I may have been where you were and I appreciate seeing this. I couldn't write no matter how I tried there.
