I Always Come Back To You
The song played on the radio intermission
some soulful rendition
of heartbreak and disappointment,
Love's ever-repeated condition
and another vow is broken in disjointment;
Cheaters beneath the covers
pretending to be lovers,
but somewhere in the kisses
every pseudo "I love yous" is discovered
in the lies that persist;
I'm sorry for the cost spent
said once more, again and again
lost in the interludes of indecent pleasures
we dress, leave and go our separate ways to tend
the false recovery unmeasured
somehow though
I always come back to you.
