Notes About The Poem

true story. I hate having to use these things because of one of the two rare side effects I've been left with the past seven years from using injections prescribed me by a doctor, and I never truly even needed those injections. I am very disappointed in the medical system.

I Almost Tossed it Out

They’re ugly and grown yellow
after being used awhile,
and rarely are they seen
except for when I smile.

I have a rare condition
that makes my mouth grow wetter.
I have to use one of these things
just to feel a bit better.

While at the movies one time,
my thing I could not find.
Searching in the darkness,
I almost lost my mind.

Three others like it are at my house.
But my dog on one left a gap.
When finding it, he bit it
and now it is for crap.

Only two are left now.
I worry they’ll get lost,
and to just replace one
is a ridiculous cost.

The other day I took one out
to eat my Subway sandwich.
When I went to put it back in,
I was in a pan-wich.

High and low I searched
everywhere I had been
between the bedroom and kitchen
and then I’d search again.

Then I had the strangest thought,
and though I had some doubt,
my mouthguard I had wrapped inside
the Subway wrapper. I almost tossed it out!

In quest of "Cleanliness". ~ In a land-scape of lions and tigers and bears, you expose the wizards for the charlatans they are. "Naming-Names" in quest of cleansliness! ~ Good work Dorothy.

Dear Andrea, I am sorry you had to endure all that. The imperfections of the medical establishment. I had three different Dentists over the years tell me I had cavities. I refused them to drill because I thought they were scamming me. I went to many dentists who have x-rayed and told me I have healthy teeth and will probably never get a cavity. Crazy!! Good Luck in the Contest!!! Autumn Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

the doctor who screwed me over was an oncologist. Just because I was over 60, they got on my back, telling me I needed Prolia for my bones. I am so angry what Prolia did to me. And even today they still use it. My daughter got breast cancer 8 years after I did. Only in her 40's and HER oncologist also wanted her to use Prolia for her bones. Thankfully she already knew it can be dangerous, not to mention the class action law suit won by women who broke their jaws or teeth fell out. It shocks me that these dangerous drugs are kept on the market.

I find that things are easier to lose than to find, lol. I'm glad that loss had a happy outcome for you. Best of wishes for the contest.

Unfortunately I did not have a close call with the nervous conditions Prolia brought me. Thanks, Tom.
