Hyperbolic Sports Reporting

A blinding fastball, more launched than thrown,
approached the corner of the strike zone.
A bat responded, just as fast.
The crowd was deafened by the ensuing blast.
On a mound, there lay dead
a man in uniform - a hole cut neatly through his head.

I really like this. But maybe I did not quite get what happened. Is it the pitcher on the mound that died. It has to be!! What a thing that would be.

Thanks, Andrea! Yep, the batter blasted a line drive through his head. I know - that's pretty terrible.
