Hyena

Sneaky snivelling dog, Creeping around for gain, Snatching whatever comes close, No understanding of pain. The pain that other things suffer, The agony of dying for real, I hope you never do realise, Or empathise, notice, or feel. But never forget the family, The pull to provide for the young, It changes every perspective, The hyenas howl must be sung.

Hello,Beth. I like the way that you changed the mood of the poem by mentioning the survival/motherly instinct in the final verse. I thought that you might have written it for the contest but notice that you have not entered it as 'personification' poetry.
