In Greek legend Hector was one of the Trojan champions who fought against the almighty Greeks. He would have seen himself as a freedom fighter who reluctantly took part in battle. After he killed Achilles's friend Patroclus in battle, he was himself brutally slain by Achilles, who proceeded to tie his dead body to a chariot and drag it about.
His hutzpah made him immortal and it is for history to tell, whether or not his humiliation held meaning for humanity.
