Hurt

I see and write~what others do not. My mind and heart~gives what others have saught. I stored tears inside~taking the ride. Except the ones that fell~over pains I would hide. Years past I've given~my heart to chance. Only to be cheated and hurt~with a somber glance. So many people are there~to take you down. To steal the ring~without making a sound. My life will change~in the coming new year. Those of royalty I see~I'll not shed a tear. They taught me a lesson~in the year of 17. With there crown of mockery~and thorns that prick. I see a new light~as a new year dawns. For she's shown me the way~away from the cons. She was there all the time~protecting my pride. The one that I'd hurt~standing right by my side. Guess my soul was empty~and my eyes were blind. The false family I shared~kept me looking behind. Pretending they cared~while tearing me down. So with the coming New Year~In her arms I'll be found.
