Listen to poem:

Hunter

Hunter
David J Walker

October
and the first return
Of the Canada Geese
Since your last breath after
the first of the year

I watched the skies
For the form of your body which I swore
To you I would recognize

Autumn Geese
Feigning wisdom
in the pedantic tidings
of a foreign language

How important
	It must be
to have someone
Recognize you in
	This different form
On a distant farm

It’s why I leave corn
	By the pond
Every morn

It’s why I no longer
	Go hunting
