Inspired by Constance La Frace Contest

Felt faint, yearning, in front of the man's home, I had not found a piece of bread this week, All shunned poor me as I had Down's syndrome, I searched high and low, I truly felt weak. From open windows I smelt the food's reek, A man came out, throwing his food away, A cat came in to eat from a fish tray, I tried to enter and to help myself, The man saw, shooed me away as a stray "That is all we need here, an ugly elf!" How unkind some people can be, to go hungry is a terrible thing, on top of that to be insulted for one’s looks is undeniably cruel. A marvellous write Victor…Belle

Sad reality Victor. You speak the truth in your poem. Compassion and love will end hunger if we all had it my friend. Hope you are well... ++++++++++++++++++++++

Well done, Victor. Sorry I am responding late. In the USA, anyone poor get food stamps,a free cell phone , a monthly stipend to live on and free health care on demand. In addition, there are many places to get served a hot lunch. Your poem still moves our hearts .. Panagiota

To Victor.and others. There is no money in DC, we, the people pay billions in taxes to support those who need it. And fund our allies, schools. As well se pay for the President and all members of Congress, in a sense, it will is a privilege to pay. Some of us work two jobds to survive, Panahiota

The USA is privileged. But I don't live there. In fact, I never visited the USA. I did go to Brazil. There are other countries that are not so privileged.

How hard that is. I can’t imagine being hungry, food so close but out of reach. Well done! We all need to be reminded of our fellow man.

Victor, your poetic composition is truly remarkable and exceptional. It is disheartening, to contemplate the fact that they would not even grant a deprived individual access to their discarded waste.

So sad ... heart rending ! The misery of poverty is the greatest misery. When animals have the freedom of eating from the thrown away food, a poor man is denied even that. A great entry for the contest dear Victor. All the Best
