I like the contrast between 'stand' and 'in flight!' It so true. Hummingbirds seem to be 'standing still,' but they're beating their wings madly, suspended in the air. Nice haiku, Heidi! :) gw

Thank you Gershon. They are so territorial and have these moments with each other while in flight. It gets pretty noisy too when there are a bunch of them :)

Heidi, you have captured the spirit of the hummingbird in perfect visual and auditory images! When we get too close to their feeder in the backyard, they dive bomb us - we can hear them coming. Also, if their feeder is empty, they sit on top of the apple tree and scold us! They are imps with wings!

Thank you Sam. They do dive bomb and are very territorial while weaving back and forth, chirping at each other. They sit on the Apple Tree here too lol. I can picture them scolding you :)
