(True story. Last year, I saw it as I left my car to go inside my house. Then I went to my kitchen window, where probably the same bird came to my kitchen window and quickly vanished again as I did the dishes!)

a hummingbird's wings rotating before my eyes . . . my sweetest startle Aug. 16, 2018 for Tania Kitchin's Hummingbird Haiku Contest Now for Brian Strand's Hi-Ku(3) Poetry Contest

Congratulations on your win. A few years ago, every morning my husband drank his coffee outside on the porch. One would come and sit on the rim of his coffee cup. It happened several times that summer. They are fascinating.

My ex-husbands stepmother fed humming birds so often she got one to eat out of her hand. I have the amazing picture somewhere of it. They are like no other bird on earth. Loved your haiku and congratulations on your win Andrea! : )

These little 'hummers' are generally unafraid of humans who take the time to feed them and not startle them. I have had them literally come so close I could feel the 'breeze' generated by their wings. Congrats on your win.
