Humble pie is a life experience, that unless you’re fortunate enough, it isn’t sometimes served only once in a lifetime. That mainly depends if you let God decide for you, or if you’ve decided for yourself that you’ve had quite enough, and you finally yield to the humbling, saying yes to the Lord... “I yield, your way, your will, I give.”
HUMBLE PIE
When it's dark outside in the middle of the day,
And still freezing in the middle of the month of may,
All pleasures in life are distant, no where near, but far,
The tests of life defining who you truly are.
When the promises of God you hold so dear,
and answers seem much farther than you thought were near,
Before you hang your head and cry,
Say your grace for the slice of humble pie.
It is a dessert that many wish not to eat,
Not a one for which one would give in and cheat,
Not to be eaten with a cold glass of complaining and mumble,
Or a hot cup of miserable, griping and grumble.
Though humble pie is neither a sweet or savory treat,
It's filled with the fresh fruit of bitter-sweet.
When made for you, the smells don't fill the air,
When sliced, who in God’s name would want a share.
Not to be hewn in the face for a funny game,
But to be eaten in humility, blessing His Name.
God knows when you've had enough, though you may wonder when and why,
As you take each bite with a tearful sigh,
As for the reasons, why me? Only God knows why,
So trust Him when it's your time, to eat humble pie.
