Humble Man

I think I've learned more in this past year
Than in all my years before
As the reality of this life
Tends to show me more and more

I may have saved a man's life, just last night
But you won't see me keeping score
You can bet, Im gonna stay a humble man
Just like I was before

I don't want the attention
You won't see me boast or brag
The shadows where I prefer to stay
And those are just the facts

My purpose is for giving
Please try to understand
There's more to life when you do what's right
I gonna stay a humble man

When I get my call up yonder, I'm sure I'll
Have to answer for my sins
Cause in no way am I perfect
Just ask one of my friends

I've been down and out
Yet I've found my way
I'm no different than the next man
What more should I say

I only hope He sees the good I've done
I've tried to be a humble man

I don't want the attention
You won't see me boast or brag
The shadows where I prefer to stay
And those are just the facts

My purpose is for giving
And I hope you understand
There's more to life, when you do what's right
I gonna stay a humble man

Of all the talents I've been blessed with
What will mean the most to me
Are the parting words I'm left with
At my eulogy

If they say I was a good man
And great father to my son
Then I'll pass on to forever
Knowing my work was done

I just hope
They can say with honesty
He remained a humble man

Son of all the things I teach you
Please remain a humble man
