Human Nature
HUMAN NATURE
Who do you trust without reserve.
Your spouse, your teacher or your Lord?
Why do we trust in the likes of men,
Who like ourselves, are not pure within?
Human nature may fail us again,
Even on self we can't depend.
'Tis tragic to know that this is true,
For you can't even depend on you.
At the very beginning of mankind,
Humans were tested, and what did God find?
We let Him down, though His love gave us all
To find joy and peace, and yet we did fall.
But our Lord understood we weren't well informed,
So the lost angel, Satan, did easily harm.
The Father and Son in years long before
Formed a plan to save men that was loving and sure.
So if we learn to trust them with all of our life,
They will soon end this evil and strife.
As they abide in our hearts and we in them,
We'll gain the love lost by the entrance of sin.
