Hugs For a Spouse

It was just a hug you see
Thats all that it was meant to be.
And if it leads to something more
Then maybe thats what hugs are for.

If you resist this hug from me 
Then I'll hug you less and less you see.
So let me hug you as I may while side by side we lay.

It can be a risk this hug I give
which may lead to maybe more,
but while I hold you in my arms
Our love will ever soar.

Hi Ray, I love the mixture of feelings in your poem. It blends no expectations with hope. The thought in the middle that if not reciprocated, you too will back off is what brings the two feels together. It has a feeling of respect not only for the preferences of the other person, but respect for self and for affection not to be taken for granted. And for a spouse, is a special hug, meant only for that person. There's a lot to your three verses! :-D ... and thank you for your thoughts on my hug poem too :-D
