when someone says loud, " I hate you " I just smile and respond, " well done , thanks."

Hate can be a default position sometimes for people and they don't always question it until someone speaks and it makes sense to change

Some years back, I found in a black community where many people hated to hear the truth due to some wrong deeds. I was called to preach at the funeral , I quoted some scriptures about the hate toward the Aposles because of true gospel. I came to say " I know that many people hate me among you and I won't stop telling you the truth to change..." When it was time to burry ... I meant, " Hating good people for no valable reason , when you have problems, you rush to the same ministers for spiritual help...who are you? " Some people learnt something on that day.
