How I Feel About Lunch Duty

Lunch duty is never a delightful experience if you ask me. Maybe if it is a bunch of children from kindergarten, second or first. When it is fourth, fifth and sixth grade, a nightmare it can be. If I was working in a middle school, I bet it might be worse. The children are tired of talking not a whit throughout the day. They have a difficult time getting themselves under control. I have attempted to get their attention every which way. They enjoy the atmosphere, while my eyes try not to roll. I just had duty with another teacher who likes to play. She gets them excited and happy and a bit louder I swear. Then she wants them to shut down instantly her way. It would be easier if I did duty alone, but do I dare?

Hello Caren, Do you dare? I would leave it alone. You never know when you would need help. Hugs.

True. But riling them up and then getting angry because they will not easily shut down is not a help.
